AtomOS 11.01.00 Firmware Release Notes

Shinobi II

Installation Instructions

Atomos recommends that your Shinobi II is connected to mains power via a USB-C power adapter (minimum 10W output power) before installing the update. Alternatively, a fully charged NP-F battery will work just as well.
It is critical that your Shinobi II does not lose power during the firmware upgrade process.

  1. Extract the firmware ZIP file provided by Atomos.
  2. Copy all .BIN files included in the ZIP archive onto the root directory of an SD Card (FAT32 and NTFS file systems are supported).
  3. Insert the SD Card with the update files into the Shinobi II’s SD Card slot.
  4. Power on your Shinobi II with a short press of the power button.
  5. The Atomos logo will appear, and after a few seconds, the firmware update will begin automatically with the progress indicated below.
  6. When the firmware update is complete, the Shinobi II will prompt you to restart the device. Before you restart, please wait for a few seconds to give the Shinobi II some extra time to complete the update.
  7. Power off the Shinobi II by holding down the power button, and boot it up again shortly after.
  8. When the Shinobi II has restarted, go to the Main menu, and select the Info tab. In there, verify that the version number matches the firmware you wanted to install.

Note: Once firmware 11.01.00 is successfully installed on your Shinobi, we strongly recommend updating your camera firmware to the latest version provided on the camera manufacturer's website. This is crucial for camera control to work reliably on the Shinobi II.

New Features & Improvements

AtomOS 11.01.00 adds the Camera Status Indicator feature to the Shinobi II, improves the overall firmware stability, and also the reliability of the Camera Control functionality.

Camera Status Indicator

As an addition to the Camera Control functionality, we have developed a Camera Status Indicator, that is displayed in the top-left corner of the Shinobi II's screen. It displays the following mission-critical camera information at a glance:

Here's how you can enable it:

  1. Navigate to the Input menu of your Shinobi II by tapping on the Input status on the far-left side of the top menu bar.
  2. Switch on the Camera Status option in the first row.
  3. Exit the main menu to view the Camera Status indicator at the top left of the Shinobi II’s screen. Initially, it will only display the cameras’ battery charge level and its remaining record time.
  4. Tapping on the Camera Status Indicator box should increase its size to display five lines of useful information about the camera’s settings: Battery charge level, remaining record time, the internal recording resolution & frame rate, the recording codec, as well as the camera’s focus mode.
  5. Tapping it again, will decrease its size to the small variant.

Overall Stability Improvements

We've also been hard at work to make the monitoring and Camera Control experience as seamless as possible, and have included a number of improvements in AtomOS 11.01.00. These include:

  1. Improved responsiveness when operating the Camera Control sliders.
  2. Improved overall reliability of the Camera Control feature, when used with certain Canon, Panasonic and Sony camera models.
  3. Resolved various issues where the UI might start to flicker when operating certain functions.
