Shogun Connect
Installation Instructions
Atomos recommends that your Shogun Connect is plugged into mains power before commencing the firmware update.
- Insert a compatible, formatted SSD into the Docking Station.
- Unzip the downloaded file and copy the ATOMSGC.FW file to the root directory of the SSD.
- Eject the SSD according to operating system guidelines.
- Insert the SSD into the Shogun Connect.
- Power on the Shogun Connect and the firmware upgrade process will begin automatically.
Note: If your Shogun Connect is already powered on, you will be prompted to perform the firmware upgrade when a drive containing new firmware is inserted.
- Once the upgrade is complete, your Shogun Connect will power itself down.
- Power your Shogun Connect back on and the device will automatically complete the update process.
- To verify if the firmware upgrade was successfully completed, navigate to the main menu and scroll to the info tab.
Note: Once firmware 11.06.00 is successfully installed on your Shogun Connect, the unit may reboot to update its internal hardware modules. Do not interrupt the firmware installation process.
New Features
Version 11.06.00 further enhances AtomOS's ever-growing toolkit for connected workflows with the introduction of SRT Streaming, and a new Camera to Cloud destination with MediaSilo. Fujifilm users will be particularly excited to see F-LOG2 support across all AtomOS 11 devices.
Introduction of SRT Streaming
With AtomOS 11.06.00, your Atomos device now supports SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) streaming in both ‘Caller’ and ‘Listener’ modes.
Configuring your SRT device mode is done via Atomos Cloud Studio, just in the same way you’d configure a RTMP or RTMP/S destination.
- Supported SRT Modes: Caller, Listener
- Supported Resolutions: 1280 × 720, 1920 × 1080
- Supported Frame Rates (Progressive Only): 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60
SRT is an open-source video transport protocol and technology stack that optimizes video streaming performance across unpredictable networks. With secure streams and simplified firewall traversal, SRT delivers the best quality video over the worst networks.
Camera to Cloud Integration with MediaSilo
As announced at NAB 2024, Atomos Cloud Studio now supports MediaSilo from EditShare.
Access to MediaSilo is included in the Camera to Cloud plan in Atomos Cloud Studio, where you can configure your connections and destinations through our easy-to-use web-interface.
Feel free to take a look at our MediaSilo setup guide on our YouTube channel.
Fujifilm F-LOG2 Support
We're also adding full support for F-LOG2 to our AtomOS 11 devices, allowing for more accurate color processing when shooting and monitoring in this profile.
- Use F-Log2/REC709/BT2020 gamma/gamut combination for YCC video
- Use F-Log2/REC709/BT2020 gamma/gamut combination as the ‘Output’ setting for ProRes RAW
- Use F-Log2/REC709/BT2020 gamma/gamut combination as the Color setting for ProRes RAW and Proxy Recordings
Known Limitations to be resolved in future releases
- It may take up to 10 seconds for Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections to re-established when users switch between record and playback mode. Please allow the system time to automatically reconnect to your network.
- In some rare instances, A/V Sync drift may be observed whilst the device in NDI RX mode.
- When starting a stream using Wowza in SRT Listener mode, it may occasionally take up to two minutes to detect this device's SRT output.
- After a reboot, only start recording in C2C mode once your device is fully connected to the internet (this may take up to 10 seconds). If you don’t wait for the connection to establish, you might end up with duplicate uploads in your C2C destination folder.
- In the RAW + Proxy C2C mode, recording is disabled if the device is being fed a 2Kp59.94 RAW feed from a Sony FX9.
- In RemoteView mode, you may experience UI freezes after switching frame rates mid-transmission. We recommend sticking to a single frame rate while using RemoteView.
- When switching to a DCI 4K resolution with H.265 selected as the recording format, RemoteView might not work as expected. We recommend sticking to 16:9 when selecting H.265 as the record format in RemoteView mode.
- When outputting 720p to other devices via HDMI/SDI, there's a chance that image artefacts will be present on the receiving end.
- When playing back an H.265 clip that was recorded at 720p50 & 720p59.94, the Zoom and Waveform monitoring functions are disabled.
- The Waveform monitor tool is not available for 8kp30 and 6Kp60 RAW inputs.
- Network Record Control is not available when H.265 is selected as the record format.
- If the user boots into ProRes RAW recording mode with a YCC SDI Input, the monitoring image may be incorrect. Monitoring and Recording whilst outputting a RAW signal to the Shogun in ProRes RAW mode will work as expected.
- If switching between different camera models whilst HDMI Compatibility mode is selected, ensure that you reboot the Shogun Connect before Connecting a new camera.
- Performance may be sluggish when using two AtomRemote apps connected to a single Shogun Connect. Please only pair one AtomRemote app per device.
- When recording H.265 codec with audio inputs above 3/4 enabled, it is possible the audio tracks will not be recorded.
- Connecting a 4Kp60 input to a Live Show with output at p59.94 will fail to transmit, setting the input signal to p59.94 and you will be able to stream.
- Uploading to C2C can become stuck with a queue of files in dual record codec mode, even though the arrow indicates the upload is in progress. To get the queue uploading, you can either go to the Connect page, disable and then enable Connect mode, or restart the device to resume the upload.
- Once a scheduled playback or recording has been activated, changing the device's date or time is not advised and will impact when the scheduled event triggers.
- In SDI source mode and DETECT set to Auto (for Matching Camera Filenames/Trigger/Timecode) it is possible the detection fails to recognise the timecode input from the camera. This can be fixed by selecting on the input page DETECT to OFF, then in the timecode page set source to Rec Run and then on the input page set Detect to Auto and the Source should be displayed correctly.
- With C2C enabled, selecting a H.265 video for playback, the selected file sometimes will fail to start with only a black screen displayed. Returning to the menu and then closing the menu should start the playback.
- When shooting in the DCI aspect ratio with dual record enabled, the proxy files are cropped to the HD aspect ratio.
