The Atomos RAW ecosystem grows
The Atomos RAW ecosystem grows with ProRes RAW in Premiere Pro and on PC
The new public Betas of Adobe® Premiere® Pro, After Effects®, Media Encoder and Adobe Premiere Rush® now enable users to edit Apple ProRes RAW files natively. Apple has released ProRes RAW for Windows 1.0 (Beta) that enables playback of ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ files on Windows systems, allowing users of these Adobe applications to work on Mac or PC.
ProRes RAW combines the flexibility of RAW video with the incredible performance of ProRes. These RAW files provide maximum flexibility for adjusting the look of your video, while extending brightness and shadow detail. These new choices now give more users the ability to import, edit and grade in pristine RAW quality.
Atomos works with major camera manufacturers to enable RAW output from some of the world’s most capable cinema and mirrorless cameras. The Shogun 7 HDR monitor-recorder works with SDI RAW cameras like Panasonic EVA1, Canon C300 mkII and Sony FS5 II, while the award-winning Ninja V offers HDMI RAW with the Panasonic LUMIX S1H and Nikon Z6 – with other HDMI cameras to be added very shortly.
Atomos CEO Jeromy Young said: “I am delighted that our shared vision of a universal RAW codec is coming to fruition. Enabling more and more cameras to record RAW has been our mission at Atomos. The results give more of our loyal customers the amazing benefits of ProRes RAW on both Mac and PC.”
Atomos was first to release ProRes RAW recording but until recently the choice of editing software has been limited to Apple Final Cut Pro X or Grass Valley Edius. CinemaDNG RAW has been offered on some Atomos recorders as an alternative for use in other NLEs.
