Melbourne, Australia – 14th September 2024

At IBC Atomos (Hall 11, D25) announces several major updates to its flagship Ninja and Shogun family of monitor-recorders, including limited period price reductions, NDI 6 support, the introduction of Shogun Classic, and enhanced camera to cloud workflows supported by key industry partners frame.io and Dropbox.

Until 31st October, Ninja Ultra will be available for just €649 (previously €799) excluding local sales taxes and Shogun Ultra for €999 (previously €1,199) excluding local sales taxes.

IBC also sees the (re)introduction of Shogun Classic. Previously known as Shogun 7, unlike the current Shogun Ultra it has XLR connections and four independent, switchable SDI inputs. “Broadcast customers missed this connectivity,” commented Jeromy Young, Atomos CEO. “So, we’ve reintroduced the product as Shogun Classic to meet demand. As with Shinobi II and touch auto focus, Ninja Phone and 4K, it’s all about listening to customers”. Shogun Classic is available immediately at €999 excluding local sales taxes.

A major announcement at IBC is support for NDI 6 on Ninja and Shogun, a move that perfectly complements the Atomos ethos. “Since I returned to Atomos at the start of the year, I’ve been stressing the importance of HDR and 10-bit color depth in video production,” added Young. “Both have been core components of Atomos products for some time now, and it’s great to see NDI 6 supporting both. Atomos products will support 10-bit HDR NDI in the coming month. I think this initiative will be a key driver for NDI in broadcast environments and we’re ideally placed to leverage this.”

Camera to cloud and remote collaboration workflows remain important technology pillars for Atomos too. With new firmware updates for the Ninja and Shogun series, demonstrated at the show, connected monitor-recorders* can send footage directly to frame.io or Dropbox. To support this enhanced camera to cloud workflow, both companies have announced complementary special offers.

From 13th September, frame.io, powered by Adobe, has announced three months free use of frame.io V4 beta with the purchase of any new Atomos Connect, Shogun or Shogun Ultra. This offer applies to new frame.io accounts only, not existing customers.

Dropbox has announced 40% off 12-month Business or Business Plus plans with the purchase of any new Atomos monitor or monitor-recorder until 30th November 2024. Again, the offer only applies to new Dropbox accounts. Both promotions can be redeemed by registering the Atomos product at my.atomos.com.

“Camera to cloud has been a game-changer for video production, and we’ve been at the forefront of it,” commented Young. “We’re delighted to be working with industry partners like Adobe and Dropbox to bring even great productivity to our customers.”

About Atomos

While the industry makes better cameras, we make cameras better.

Atomos is a video technology innovator. When we started just over a decade ago, we combined high-quality touchscreen monitors, removable storage, and Apple ProRes to dramatically improve the quality of video captured by almost any camera. For the first time, video makers could take the uncompressed output from the camera and store it in Apple’s professional, easy-to-edit format.

New generations of faster, lighter, tougher, and brighter products followed, taking in HDR, 4K and even 8K. Now “Atomos” has become part of the filmmaker’s vocabulary.

With the introduction of connected monitor-recorders accessing a host of cloud-based tools and services, content creators now enjoy even greater productivity gains with camera-to-cloud, remote collaboration and review, cloud editing, live multi-cam production, wireless timecode, and streaming. Workflows anywhere in the world can access media from a cloud connected Atomos device.

Atomos is based in Melbourne, Australia, with a distributed worldwide team and offices in the USA, Japan, China, UK, and Germany and has a worldwide distribution partner network.
